Recovery Machine Optimization

Posted by Appion on Jul 5th 2023

The recovery machine is the heart of any refrigerant recovery setup, but perhaps just as important as the machine is the setup on both ends; input (system) and output (recovery tank).

Restrictions

One of the keys to truly fast recovery is removing restrictions and achieving full flow throughout the setup. Restrictions include valve cores & core depressors, 1/4" hoses, quick disconnect (low-loss) fittings, partially opened valves on the recovery cylinder, and even the liquid port on the cylinder itself. Automatic Liquid and Vapor Recovery

When choosing a refrigerant recovery machine, it’s important to consider whether it’s been designed to handle the rigors of full liquid recovery. After all, with an unrestricted setup you’re almost guaranteed to recover at least some amount of liquid refrigerant from the system. A recovery machine with a refrigerant isolated crank case will not only offer superior durability, but will be able to handle straight liquid refrigerant.

Appion’s G5Twin is designed for automatic liquid & vapor recovery with no throttling required. With a full flow setup, all that’s needed is to fully open the valves on the machine and enjoy fast and trouble free recovery of both liquid and vapor. The ability to handle straight liquid makes for an easy transition to vapor and no knobs to turn or settings to adjust. Continuing with the ease of use, the G5Twin does not require a time consuming purge at the end of the job as any leftover refrigerant is considered de minimis and there is no risk of cross contamination.

Fully open the valves on the G5Twin, it was designed to recover with no throttling. Always use 12 gauge or heavier extension cords to avoid starving the machine of voltage. The G5Twin does not require a purge cycle at the end of the job (any refrigerant left behind is considered de minimis).
